Business Advisory Services (BAS)

The mandate of the Business Advisory Services  (BAS) of the Bank derives from section “3t” of the Ghana Export-Import (GEXIM) Bank Act, 2016 (Act 911), which states that the Bank shall “collect, compile and disseminate market and credit information in respect of international trade”

The BAS of the Bank plays a promotional role that seeks to create and enhance export capabilities and international competitiveness of Ghanaian businesses. It is responsible for providing professional advisory services to the Bank’s internal and external stakeholders on matters related to international trade.

The Business Advisory Services functions of the Bank include:

We assist businesses in identifying growth opportunities, developing business plans, and providing strategic guidance to enhance their competitiveness and market reach.

We offer expert advice on financial management, including capital structuring, risk management, and optimizing funding strategies to ensure the financial stability and growth of export businesses.

We conduct in-depth market research to provide businesses with insights into market trends, potential export opportunities, and competitive landscapes to inform their decision-making processes.

We organize workshops, seminars, and training programs to build the capacities of businesses in areas such as bookkeeping and financial management, export procedures, quality standards, export financing, and business management practices for businesses especially, SMEs operating within the international trade space.

We provide advice on how businesses can navigate the bank’s financing options, including loans, guarantees, and other financial instruments, to ensure they have the necessary resources to expand and succeed in both the domestic and international markets.

BAS is focused on helping Small and Medium-Scale (SME) businesses in their growth and development in today’s competitive market to enable them to take advantage of opportunities under multilateral and bilateral trade agreements such as the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement.

The unique proposition of the Business Advisory Services Department of the Bank is that it serves as the reference point for Ghanaian exporters who seek vital evidence-based information for guidance to effectively participate in international trade
