The Chief Executive of the Ghana Export-Import Bank (Ghana Exim Bank), Sylvester Mensah, has revealed that the bank is prioritising investments in garment and apparel manufacturing as a key driver of job creation, export growth and economic transformation.
Speaking at the opening of the Northshore Apparel Hub, a facility under Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, on Friday, August 28, Mr Mensah said the bank’s partnership with the company forms part of its five-year strategic plan to strengthen Ghana’s industrial and export capacity.
According to him, Ghana Exim Bank formalised its commitment to Northshore Apparel in March 2026 through a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at expanding domestic garment production, creating sustainable employment opportunities and strengthening Ghana’s position in the global apparel industry.
“The Ghana Export-Import Bank is therefore proud to have worked alongside KfW’s Investing for Employment facility to provide the funding that enabled Northshore Ghana Limited to establish and operationalise this factory,” he stated.
He described the newly commissioned facility as a tangible demonstration of that commitment, noting that the bank, in partnership with KfW’s Investing for Employment facility, provided financing that enabled Northshore Ghana Limited to establish and operationalise the factory.
Mr Mensah said the project reflects Ghana Exim Bank’s broader mandate to support a Ghana that produces, exports and creates opportunities for its people, while opening a new chapter of economic opportunity for northern Ghana.
He added that financing, agribusiness and job creation remain central to the bank’s development mandate as it marks its 10th anniversary.
