
Accra, July 09, 2025: – The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare on Wednesday, July 09, 2025 inaugurated the reconstituted Board of Directors for the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank.
The inauguration, according to the Minister, sets the stage for a renewed focus on industrial growth and export development. She charged the board to work to realize the object of the bank.
The whole idea is to promote exports, and so, if you are part of the Board, you know that your responsibility is very huge. I expect that you execute your mandate professionally and nicely, all in the name of improving our exports.”
The Board is chaired by Dr. Joseph Nyarkotei Dorh and has members drawn from various institutions in accord with section 5 of the bank’s enabling legislation, the Ghana Export- Import Bank Act, 2016 (Act 911). The members include Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah, Chief Executive of Ghana Exim Bank; Hon. Sampson Ahi, Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, 2nd Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana
The others are Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur, CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Robert Akati Adamu, Presidential Nominee with over 20 years’ experience in finance and Samuel Danquah Arkhurst, a Director from the Ministry of Finance. The rest are Samuel Akrofi of the Ghana Customs Laboratory, Millicent Samira Lardi-Glawu and Carlos de-Souza as Board Secretary.
The Board chair, Dr Joseph Nyarkotei Dorh assured the minister of the Board’s resolve to work in realizing the object of the Bank. He stated the strategic focus areas that will engage the attention of the Bank in the short to medium term to include strengthening agriculture and the agribusiness value chain; boosting food production to ensure food security; promoting import substitution and export diversification; accelerating growth in garment and apparel exports and increasing support for rice and poultry production.
The Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM was set up in 2016 by an Act of Parliament, the Ghana Export-Import Bank Act, 2016, Act 911, to bolster the Government of Ghana’s quest for an aggressive and sustainable export-led economy.
