Export-Import Bank has presented Yucesan 75 HP Tractor and its accessories,
5-Ton 3way Tipping Trailer, Tufline 3 Dics Plough, Taral TP 600 Boom Sprayer
Complete and Offset Disc Harrow 21 Disc as its donation for the 1st
Runners-Up prize to be presented at the 35th National Farmers Day
Celebration to be held at Ho, in the Volta Region.
Making
the presentation at the premises of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in
Accra, on 13th November 2019, and on behalf of the Chief Executive
Officer, Mr. William Obeng, General Manager, Corporate Banking Department, said
GEXIM remains a committed Bank supporting the growth of the agricultural sector
to boost exports trade in Ghana.
Mr.
William Obeng said the presentation of the Mechanised Tractor and its
Accessories was a national duty to show case the Banks commitment and readiness
to fulfil its social obligation to contribute to the successful organisation of
the 35th National Best Farmer Awards.
“We
have been performing this key Corporate Social Responsibility since our
predecessor EDIF-EDAIF as a way of encouraging the youth to go into farming and
to make the agriculture farming profession more attractive,” he said.
He
indicated that the Bank for the 10 years has been presenting a Yucesan 75HP
Tractor and its Accessories, to the 1st Runners-up National Best Farmer which
will go a long way to aid farmers to expand their farms and operations.
Mr.
Obeng further indicated that, among the 12 key focus areas of the Bank
including cashew, poultry, cassava, oil palm, shea all are agriculture-related.
Therefore, it is an opportunity to motivate all winners and prospective farmers
and fisher folks to continuously work hard to boost the Ghanaian economy.
“Last
year, we presented the same equipment to the 1st Runners-Up, Mrs,
Charity Akotia of Agona Swedru to enable her expand her business and we are
convinced that the equipment has gone a long way in helping Mrs Akotia to
enlarge her operations and business, he said”.
Receiving
the farm Equipment, the Minister of State in Charge of Food & Agriculture,
Hon. Dr. Gyiele Nurah highly commended GEXIM for the kind gesture of sponsoring
the Farmers Day with the equipment worth about Two Hundred and Ninety- Nine
Thousand, One Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHS299,100.00) only.

Honourable Minister said, the
worth of the donation represents the due acknowledgement and admiration that
the Bank attaches to our Farmers and Fisher folks and hoped that this support
would continue to help improve outputs of the recipients.
